A rare crystal vase designed by Ernest Gordon for Åfors glass factory in Sweden, 1950s.
Signed underneath with the serial number and color ‚Lila‘ (lilac).
Very good condition with a few scratches.

About the artist Ernest Gordon (1926-2008)
Ernest Gordon was a sculptor, glass designer, painter and teacher.
Born in Sheffield GB, he studied sculpture at Sheffield School of Art (1941-44) and then at the Royal College of Art. Ernest Gordon was a friend of the sculptor George Fullard and they shared a studio after leaving art school. In early 1951.
He went to Stockholm in early 1954 to work in glass, first designing for Kosta with Vicke Lindstrand, and then later that year for Afors, where he worked until 1961. In the early 1960s he moved back to the UK and started the English part of the Swedish firm Konstsmide and remained a director of Konstsmide UK Ltd until his retirement.
