Pair of iconic Marcel Breuer S 32 chairs for Thonet, manufactured in 1984 by Thonet.
 
Made of chromed steel with dark brown lacquered wooden frames, original cane webbing.
 
Very good condition with signs of use and age, one small break in the cane webbing, see second last photo.
 
Marcel Breuer designed the iconic tubular steel collection in 1929-1930, in which he found a way to mix old with new. While Thonet had a tradition in bentwood furniture and wickerwork, Breuer combined these traditions with the revolutionary use of tubular steel. He created the versatile, bestselling cantilever chair S 32, which has been in production ever since.
